SUBSIDY PROJECT: ETHERA
Smartsense is involved in the Ethera subsidy initiative, a groundbreaking cross-border collaboration under the Interreg program Flanders-Netherlands.
This project aims to minimize fruit spoilage by precisely monitoring ethylene levels. Ethylene, a natural hormone in plants, is crucial for the ripening of fruits. Inadequate management of ethylene concentrations can result in hastened ripening and increased food waste.
The Ethera project is working on advanced technologies for extremely precise ethylene detection. Real-time and reliable measurements allow for better control of storage and transport conditions. This contributes to:
- Less food waste
- Longer shelf life of fruit
- Better quality control in the chain
- More sustainable logistics processes
Through our participation in this project, we are actively contributing to innovation, sustainability, and more efficient chain management within the agri-food sector.
